Culturas oceánicas originarias: el caso de Oceanía como ensayo de Geografía Azul e interculturalidad. Una propuesta didáctica de educación para la sostenibilidad en Secundaria

Abstract

El estudio y percepción del océano han sido tradicionalmente una asignatura pendiente para Occidente. Considerado habitualmente como un espacio en blanco más que como una prolongación del territorio, esto está sufriendo un cambio radical gracias a la llegada de las Blue Humanities y la Cultura Oceánica. Pero a lo largo del tiempo han existido culturas con otras actitudes hacia el océano y que proporcionan grandes aprendizajes acerca de otras formas de ser, estar, pensar y convivir, significando que buena parte de las ideas del desarrollo sostenible para nada sean novedosas. Para ello no hay nada mejor que acudir a un continente tan diferente como Oceanía. El estudio de algunas de sus Culturas Oceánicas originarias puede proporcionar grandes lecciones sobre sostenibilidad e interculturalidad. Y uno de los mejores vehículos para integrar estos aprendizajes en la educación es la Geografía. Así, se realiza una propuesta de innovación en Secundaria, integrando Geografía, Cultura Oceánica, Culturas Oceánicas Originarias de Oceanía, interculturalidad y educación para la sostenibilidad.

The study and perception of the ocean have been traditionally a remaining issue for the West. Often considered as a blank space instead an extension of the territory, this is suffering a radical change thanks to the Blue Humanities and Ocean Literacy. But throughout time, there have existed cultures with different attitudes towards the ocean, offering great learnings about other ways of being, thinking and living together, meaning that some of the ideas of sustainable development are nothing but new. There is nothing better than moving to a continent as different as Oceania. The study of some of its Native Oceanic Cultures can offer great lessons about sustainability and interculturality. And one of the best means for the integration of this learning in education is Geography. Thus, an innovation proposal for Secondary School is made, integrating Geography, Ocean Literacy, Oceanic Cultures Originating from Oceania, interculturality and education for sustainability.
