Resumen/Abstract
This paper is devoted to the study of hairpin-line filters in microstrip and suspended microstrip structures in the UHF band. The hairpin-line filter is another kind of filter that is very much like the parallel-coupled line filter. This class of filters is particularly well suited for microstrip and suspended microstrip structures because grounding of the filters resonators is generally not required. In this type of filters, the half-wave coupling resonators are bent into a U shape (hairpin). The folded half-wavelength resonators in hairpin filters have alternate orientations, whereas all orientations of the resonators in hairpin-comb filters are the same. Hairpin filters have been shown to have attractive properties for the design of compact, narrow-band filters such as are often needed in many applications. The results obtained from two and six-resonators in suspended microstrip structure and four-resonators in microstrip structure filter designs are presented. This type of filter provides very strong stop-bands, and their computed and experimental data performances are found to be in agreement.
