La literatura como motor del desarrollo científico

Abstract

La primera revolución industrial y tecnológica condujo, en Inglaterra, a un debate ideológico entre ciencia y literatura en el siglo XIX, que fue seguido, en un marco educacional en el siglo XX, como el debate de las "dos culturas". Desde mi posición como científico y con la ayuda de la opinión publicada por un influyente literato del siglo XX, desarrollo un análisis de las discrepancias y sinergias entre ciencia y literatura, a través de la historia.

The first industrial and technological revolution led, in England, to an ideological debate between science and literature in the 19th century, which was followed, in an educational framework in the 20th century, as the debate of the «two cultures». From my position as a scientist and with the help of the opinion published by an influential literary figure of the 20th century, I develop an analysis of the discrepancies and synergies between science and literature, throughout history.
