    Resumen/Abstract
The concept of smart city [HER 11] is about improving the efficiency of city services and facilitating the sustainable development of cities, progressing toward smart urban environments and engaging populations (living in these cities) in this endeavor. To foster user support, involvement and engagement in ICT-based innovation areas, smart cities are thought to be excellent playgrounds for Future Internet (FI) research and experimentation. For this purpose, under SmartSantander FP7 project framework, a massive IoT deployment was carried out in the city of Santander (in the north of Spain). This deployment is supported by a novel architecture, also designed and implemented during the project, which covers a threefold approach: service provision, network management and experimentation support. Both deployment and architecture are characterized by a high degree of scalability and flexibility, thus allowing for the addition of new physical devices as well as the improvement of developed software modules. In this sense, within the ClouT EU-JP FP7 project, the aforementioned deployment and infrastructure will serve as basis for the development of new use cases in Santander, thus enriching retrieved information with new data sources, as well as generating new entities or improving existing ones to achieve a better network performance.
