Análisis y caracterización petrográfica de material cerámico del yacimiento arqueológico de Heping Dao B (Keelung, Taiwán)

Abstract

Este estudio se enfoca en la caracterización petrográfica de 25 muestras cerámicas prehistóricas del yacimiento arqueológico Heping Dao B, en el norte de Taiwán. Utilizando microscopía óptica polarizada, se analizó la composición mineralógica de las muestras para entender la selección de materias primas y las tecnologías empleadas en su manufactura durante el Neolítico y la Edad del Hierro. Los resultados permitieron identificar la procedencia de las materias primas y profundizar en los procesos técnicos de modelado y cocción. Esta investigación busca corroborar la hipótesis de una continuidad poblacional y un desarrollo tecnológico local en Heping Dao, ofreciendo nuevas perspectivas sobre la producción cerámica prehistórica en la región.

This study focuses on the petrographic characterization of 25 prehistoric ceramic samples from the Heping Dao B archaeological site in northern Taiwan. Using polarized light microscopy, the mineralogical composition of the samples was analyzed to understand the selection of raw materials and the technologies used in their manufacture during the Neolithic and Iron Age periods. The results identified the origin of the raw materials and delved the technical processes of shaping and firing. This research aims to corroborate the hypothesis of population continuity and local technological development in Heping Dao, providing new insights into prehistoric ceramic production in the región.
