Paganos y cristianos en conflicto durante los primeros siglos: estrategias y argumentos literarios

Abstract

Durante los primeros siglos, cristianos y paganos protagonizaron conflictos culturales y religiosos, reflejados en la literatura de la época que han llegado hasta nuestros días. Estas tensiones se manifestaron a través de persecuciones, condenas y enfrentamientos entre ambas comunidades, relatados por diversos autores. Desde las epístolas de los primeros Padres de la Iglesia hasta los tratados filosóficos de los neoplatónicos de la Edad Media, este trabajo se centra en los discursos de El Octavio de Minucio Félix (197 d. C) y Contra Celso de Orígenes de Alejandría (248 d. C), como fuentes principales. A través de un exhaustivo análisis de las fuentes, este estudio se propone examinar las estrategias retóricas y los argumentos empleados por los protagonistas para fortalecer sus posiciones y deslegitimar las creencias del otro durante el enfrentamiento entre los seguidores de las religiones tradicionales y los judeocristianos en los tres primeros siglos de nuestra era.

During the early centuries, Christians and pagans engaged in cultural and religious conflicts, as reflected in contemporary literature that has endured to the present day. These tensions manifested through persecutions, condemnations, and confrontations between both communities, chronicled by various authors in the Roman period. From the epistles of the early Church fathers to the philosophical treatises of medieval Neoplatonists, this work delves into the discourses of Minucius Felix's "Octavius" (197 AD) and Origen of Alexandria's "Against Celsus" (248 AD) as primary sources. Through a thorough analysis of literary sources of the time, this study aims to examine the rhetorical strategies and arguments employed by both sides to strengthen their positions and delegitimize each other's beliefs during the clash between followers of traditional religions and Judeo-Christians in the first three centuries of our era.
