Análisis numérico del problema de Stefan

Abstract

En este trabajo vamos a tratar de buscar una solución para el problema de Stefan unidimensional de una fase para posteriormente analizarla. Comenzaremos partiendo de un dominio fijo de la forma [0, L]×[0, T] para posteriormente resolverlo en un dominio de frontera libre de la forma [I(t),D(t)]×[0, T] siendo I(t) y D(t) dos funciones que cumplan la condición de Stefan y sean equidistantes al centro de forma simétrica. Ambos problemas, tanto el de dominio fijo como el de frontera libre, los resolveremos mediante tres métodos numéricos: Euler, Runge-Kutta de orden 2 y Runge-Kutta de orden 4. Posteriormente, calcularemos el orden del error de estos métodos. Por último, escribiremos un código para cada uno de los tres métodos expuestos y compararemos las soluciones obtenidas mediante un análisis del error.

In this work we are going to search for a solution to the onedimensional Stefan’s problem of one phase in order to analyze it. We are going to start with a fixed domain such as [0, L] × [0, T] and then we will solve it in a free boundary domain such as [I(t),D(t)]×[0, T] with I(t) and D(t) two functions that fulfill the Stefan’s condition and are equidistant with the centre in a symmetrical way. Both problems, the fixed domain one and the free boundary domain one, are going to be solved with three numerical methods: Euler, second order Runge-Kutta and fourth orden Runge-Kutta. Then, we are going to calculate the order of error of this methods. Finally, we are going to write an algorithm for each of the three methods displayed and we are going to compare the obtained solutions through an error analysis.
