El sentido del honor en China: percepciones hispánicas en la Edad Moderna

Abstract

El objetivo del presente trabajo es examinar las referencias al honor y a la pérdida del mismo en los textos hispánicos sobre China en la Edad Moderna. A través de las crónicas y fundamentalmente a partir de las noticias aportadas por los misioneros, se puede identificar la relación entre el honor y los parámetros morales confucianos que entonces regían la sociedad china. Asimismo, es posible ha lar los trazos del honor en los rituales y ceremonias asociadas al confucianismo y analizar las implicaciones de pérdida del honor.

The objective of this article is to analyze the references to the honor and the loss of it in Hispanic literature on China of the Modern Period. Through di ferent chronicles and fundamenta ly from the news of the missionaries, it is possible to identify the relationship between honor and Confucian moral standards then governing Chinese society. It is also possible to find traces of honor in rituals and ceremonies associated with Confucianism and to analyze the implications of loss of honor.
