A modal analysis based on the coupled mode method (CMM) is performed for the analysis of waveguides partially filled with a general bianisotropic material. The calculation of the generalized telegraphist’s equations (GTE) can be made by the direct and the indirect formulations, so in this contribution, the convergence of both formulations is analyzed and compared. It is shown that the indirect formulation converges much faster than the direct formulation, which means that less number of modes is required for a given precision. Some results of scattering parameters obtained with both formulations are presented and analyzed.es_ES
