dc.description.abstract | A discussion on the variation of rates and intensity of geomorphic processes and disasters, as well as on
potential natural and human drivers is presented. Data obtained indicate that there has been a significant acceleration of geomorphic processes at global level, and that such acceleration seems to be due mainly to
human modification of land surface (global geomorphic change), rather than to climate factors. The
acceleration is particularly marked after the end of World War II, coinciding the the great acceleration experienced by many manifestations of human activity and their effects on the planet. It is proposed that the Anthropocene is caracterised, among other things, by a much geater intensity of geomorphic processes and frequency of hazardous events. Also, that the end of World War II could be taken as the starting point of this new geological epoch. | es_ES |
