Areteo de Capadocia fue considerado el primer médico en describir la celiaquía. Para ello
debemos retroceder hasta el siglo II a.C, en el que la definía como una enfermedad manifestada
a través de “problemas digestivos acompañados de adelgazamiento y debilidad”.
Este trabajo, cuya confección se ha acotado a información recabada hasta el año 2023, pretende
exponer la realidad que viven los celiacos en su día a día. Por un lado, cabe destacar el impacto
psicológico, tanto en el niño como en su familia, en el momento del diagnóstico, así como la
repercusión de la enfermedad en la calidad de vida del menor. Por otro lado, la importancia del
acompañamiento y de los cuidados a lo largo de la enfermedad, por parte de los profesionales
de la enfermería.
El objetivo de la presente monografía es el de analizar el impacto de la Enfermedad Celíaca tanto
en el propio niño como en su familia.
Resulta fundamental destacar que se requiere la implicación y la intervención de las enfermeras
con la finalidad de lograr superar la multitud de dificultades que conlleva dicha enfermedad.
Aretaeus of Cappadocia was considered the firs physician to describe celiac disease. To do this,
we must go back to the second century B.C., in which he defined it as a disease manifested
through “digestive problems accompanied by weight loss and weakness”.
This thesis, which has been compiled on the basis of information collected up until 2023, aims
to expose the reality that celiacs live in their day-to-day lives. On the one hand, it is worth
highlighting the psychological impact, both on the child and on his family, at the time of a
diagnosis, as well as the impact of the disease on the child´s quality of life. On the other hand,
the importance of accompaniment and care throughout the disease by nursing professionals.
The aim of this monograph is to analyze the impact of Celiac Disease on both the child and his
family.
It is essential to highlight that the involvement and intervention of nurses is required in order to
overcame the multitude of difficulties that this disease entails.
