Operaciones de carga y descarga de un buque tanque Suezmax

Abstract

This final degree project intended for the completion of studies in the grade of nautical and maritime transport engineering, with the tittle “Suezmax tanker loading and discharge operations”, have the main objective in design a both operations manual and the key equipment related to this process. Set a handbook which can be a good help to crew members who arrives for the first time to a vessel whit these characteristics, giving them only one handbook with detailed explanation of chronologic evolution of every operation and the specific process carried out during operation. This project is based on the author knowledge and experience acquired over a year on board as deck cadet on the vessel Monte Urqiuola, property of Ibaizabal Tankers. Supported by the theorical knowledge acquired during his student career in Santander nautical major technical school. The vessel wich is subject of this study is a tanker with big dimensions, carring mostly crude oil with different characteristics, usually working on connection from de Gulf of Guinea and different European ports. A year of sea with fully experience helped by the most experienced professional part of the crew, growing up professionally and experience, finally being able to plan this operation’s handbook. In order to prepare this manual, the first step will be identifying the problem to be addressed, which is the need for a single handbook for operations and equipment. Following by establish the methodology followed by this project, added theoretical concepts about tankers and the crude oil as introduction. During development phase, explaining in detail all the equipment used for loading and ballasting, with main characteristics and how they work. Finally, a full explanation of the operations, especially focusing on how they are carried out on this vessel
