La Economía Azul

Abstract

Este trabajo trata la Economía Azul (en adelante EA), la cual comprende las actividades económicas relacionadas con los oceános. Pone su énfasis en la Economía Azul sostenible (en adelante EA sostenible) que da respuesta a problemas que se presentan en los ámbitos medioambientales, económicos y sociales. Se explica dicho enfoque sostenible y su funcionamiento en diferentes ámbitos tanto sociales como geográficos, económicos y sectoriales. El objetivo del presente análisis es explicar que la EA sostenible no sólo es económicamente viable, sino que también es importante y beneficiosa a largo plazo. Esto se demuestra mediante el análisis de los campos en los que se manifiesta la EA, exponiendo además frenos y potencial del crecimiento azul sostenible. Se concluye el trabajo con previsiones y consejos para el desarrollo de la EA sostenible.

This paper deals with the Blue Economy (hereafter BE) which comprises the economic activities related to the oceans. It focuses on the sustainable Blue Economy (hereafter sustainable BE) which addresses environmental, economic and social problems. It explains this sustainable approach and the way it works in different social, geographical, economical and sectorial spheres. The main goal of the present analysis is to explain that the sustainable BE is not only economically viable, but also important and profitable in the long term. This is proved by analysing the fields in which the BE manifests itself, and furthermore by outlining the obstacles and potential of sustainable blue growth. The paper concludes with forecasts and advices concerning the development of the sustainable BE.
