Resumen/Abstract
In the latest years, the need to improve the performance of traditional television systems, in terms of the number and quality of available services, has favored the migration from analog to terrestrial digital television systems, that can be implemented using Single Frequency Networks (SFN), more efficient from a spectrum point of view than the Multiple Frequency Networks (MFN). In this work, an approach is proposed to analyze and improve the performance of an initial SFN in terms of the coverage achieved over a specific geographical area in which the DVB-T services must be provided. Basically, the approach includes a propagation prediction tool, a receiver modeling and a Simulated Annealing (SA) optimization process used to fit several transmission parameters. Representative results obtained with two SFN are shown to demonstrate the usefulness of the approach proposed.
