This paper is the result of our research on the smallsignal behavior of a GaAs device, in the overall I-V plane. A complete small-signal model for a MESFET is determined from experimental scattering parameter, measurements. All algorithms for mathematical extraction of the microwave equivalent circuit are implemented in an application called WinModFet developed for research and educational purposes. The software has been made under friendly user philosophy and is self-explicative. The able to save and recall standard ASCII measured data files, coupled with the graphical and mathematical capacities of MATLAB makes this software an interesting tool easy to use by users at any level. A modification of traditional methods is also presented here, by means of a weighted grid function using the values of scattering files that surrounds the working bias point.es_ES
