Aspectos culturales de los países anglófonos en la enseñanza del inglés

Abstract

En este trabajo de fin de grado, pretendo investigar e indagar en el significado que se le ha dado a la palabra “cultura” durante todos estos años, para poder así comprender su verdadero significado. Comenzando por los orígenes de la palabra, y pasando por las diferentes definiciones que han ido apareciendo, proporcionando, de este modo, un significado, así como un análisis y reflexión en torno a los conceptos asociados a esta. Además, se presentarán diferentes visiones y vertientes a cerca de este concepto, ayudando a dar comienzo al siguiente apartado: La enseñanza de cultura en el aula de lenguas extranjeras. Algunos de los métodos de aprendizaje para la enseñanza de una segunda lengua serán analizados y explicados brevemente, para más tarde aportar la visión y trato de estos con la cultura. Además, se analizará la importancia enseñar conjuntamente los aspectos culturales con los lingüísticos, exponiendo la necesidad de los educadores por conseguir una sociedad intercultural. Para finalizar esta sección, se exponen técnicas y posibles dificultades que pueden aparecer a la hora de conseguir un buen hablante. En el último apartado, se analizará la relevancia que ciertos libros de texto otorgan a la cultura, pero especialmente se prestará especial atención a la exclusión de diversas culturas anglófonas. Tras finalizar esta recopilación de información y análisis del tema en cuestión, se propondrá una propuesta didáctica para el alumnado de educación primaria. Primordialmente, se intentará adaptar e incorporar aspectos culturales de los países anglófonos menos representativos, como son Australia o Jamaica. De la misma manera, se intentará conseguir una mayor visibilidad de los diversos países, entendiendo que cada país tiene sus propias características culturales. Se llevarán a cabo diferentes proyectos que conllevarán una participación activa de los estudiantes, comprendiendo que no solo se habla inglés en países como Reino Unido o Estados Unidos

In this Bachelor’s Thesis, I aim to investigate and research the concept that has been given to the word "culture" during all these years, in order to understand its true meaning. Starting with the origins of the word, and going through the different definitions that have appeared, giving it a meaning, as well as an analysis and reflection about the different concepts. In addition, different visions and aspects of this concept will be presented, helping to start the following section: The teaching of culture in the foreign language classroom. Some of the learning methods for teaching a second language will be briefly analyzed and explained, to then provide the perspective and treatment of these in relation to culture. In addition, the importance of teaching cultural aspects together with linguistic ones will be analyzed and the need for educators to achieve an intercultural society will be demonstrated. To conclude, it emerges some techniques and difficulties that we could encounter meanwhile we were trying to find a good speaker. In the last section, the relevance of culture in certain textbooks will be analyzed, but especially the exclusion of different Englishspeaking cultures. Once this summary of information and analysis of the topic in question has been completed, we will present a didactic proposal for primary school students. Primarily, we will try to adapt and incorporate cultural aspects of the less representative English-speaking countries, such as Australia or Jamaica. In the same way, we will try to achieve a wider visibility of the different countries, understanding that each country has its own cultural characteristics. Different projects will be carried out, which will involve the active participation of students, understanding that English is not only spoken in countries such as the United Kingdom or the United States.
