Geometría del conjunto de rectas del espacio tridimensional real

Abstract

Si se considera el conjunto de rectas del espacio tridimensional real para cada geometría lineal (vectorial, afín y proyectiva), es difícil a primera vista dotarlo de un atlas diferenciable o una topología. El objetivo de este trabajo es determinar tales estructuras y estudiar algunas de sus propiedades. Para hacerlo, establecemos una bisección entre el conjunto de rectas y otro del que conozcamos una topología y un atlas. De esta forma, la bisección permite pasar estas estructuras definidas en el segundo conjunto al primero. Así, se obtienen en todos los casos variedades diferenciables, cuyas propiedades cambian notablemente según el espacio que consideremos y si damos orientación o no a las rectas.

If we consider the set of lines of the real three-dimensional space for each linear geometry (vector, affine and projective), at first sight, it is difficult to come up with a smooth atlas or topology on it. The goal of this text is to find such structures, and then study what characterizes them. To do so, we establish a bijection between the set of lines and another one whose properties are known to a greater extent. In this way, the bijection lets us pass any smooth or topological structure defined on the second set to the first one. In all cases, smooth manifolds are obtained, with different properties depending on the space considered and whether the lines are endowed with an orientation or not.
