La jerarquía de Borel

Abstract

El objetivo principal de este trabajo es introducir una jerarquía en la σ-álgebra de Borel en un espacio métrico. Para ello, definiremos los conjuntos que la constituyen y veremos propiedades de los mismos. Para lograr dicho objetivo, daremos nociones básicas sobre ordinales y el método de inducción transfinita, herramientas fundamentales para la comprensión del texto. Asimismo, veremos una gran variedad de ejemplos en los que situaremos un conjunto dentro de la jerarquía. Además, daremos varios resultados sobre la cardinalidad de algunas σ-álgebras.

The main objective of this work is to introduce a hierarchy in the Borel σ-algebra on a metric space. For this purpose, we will define the sets that constitute it and we will see some of their properties. To achieve this goal, we will give basic notions of ordinals and the method of transfinite induction, as fundamental tools for the understanding of the text. Also, we will see a great variety of examples in which we will place a set within the hierarchy. In addition, we will give several results on the cardinality of some σ-algebras.
