Abstract

La profesión enfermera, ha estado ligada al género femenino, debido a las influencias sociales y culturales construidas históricamente, por el sistema patriarcal, que ha dificultado e invisibilizado su reconocimiento y el desarrollo de sus competencias. El pilar de la disciplina de la Enfermería es la ciencia del cuidado, sin olvidar, que el acto de cuidar ha carecido de valor trasmitiendo una imagen social de nuestra profesión, asociada históricamente a la subordinación de la figura médica, marcada por los estereotipos de género. Estos y otros factores imposibilitan acceder a puestos de gestión, dificultando la visibilidad de nuestra contribución enfermera en el entorno sanitario. Es fundamental creer en nuestra capacidad científica y formativa que nos posiciona como profesionales imprescindibles, para mejorar la salud y el bienestar de la población

The nursing profession has been linked to the female gender, due to historically built social and cultural influences, by the patriarchal system, which has made it difficult and made invisible its recognition and the development of its competencies. The pillar of the Nursing discipline is the science of care, without forgetting that the act of caring has lacked value, transmitting a social image of our profession, historically associated with the subordination of the medical figure, marked by gender stereotypes. These and other factors make it impossible to access management positions, hindering the visibility of our nursing contribution in the healthcare environment. It is essential to believe in our scientific and training capacity that positions us as essential professionals, to improve the health and well-being of the population
