Resumen/Abstract
ABSTRACT The main issue we are dealing with throughout this document is the use of GeoGebra applets while teaching mathematics in Primary Education. Focusing our attention on the upper courses, we consider that this software is useful for both teachers and students as it helps to reach a holistic development of the key competences. GeoGebra, having been awarded several times because of its educational applications, has been used to create a library of applets (specific applications for different purposes) by the Spanish INTEF in what has been called the Proyecto Gauss.
In order to approach this topic, we have decided to describe, first, the theoretical frame relating to the use of applets as Mathematics teaching tools. Then, we will focus on describing the general guidelines of the Gauss Project and some of its contents, emphasizing the possibilities of three particular applets. Finally we will present some feedback about using the Gauss Project in Primary Education, provided by experiences coming from a couple of schools from Asturias and Teruel.
In this way, we intend to show that Mathematics can be taught in a more active and participative way using both intuitive software and technologies and a visual interface, boosting interest and motivation among our students.
