Análisis teórico sobre las CBDC

Abstract

RESUMEN: El dinero siempre ha estado presente en nuestra sociedad. Se trata de una herramienta que facilita las relaciones económicas. Durante toda su historia este ha ido adoptando diferentes formas, ligadas siempre al desarrollo tecnológico de la época. Vivimos una etapa en la que el desarrollo tecnológico se ha intensificado, sobre todo en el ámbito digital. Este desarrollo también ha llegado al sector financiero, donde en los últimos años, un gran número de bancos centrales han realizado publicaciones acerca de sus proyectos sobre monedas digitales, comúnmente conocidas como CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency), foco del presente trabajo. Inicialmente, se hará una revisión sobre la evolución del dinero desde su origen hasta el momento actual. Seguidamente, se describirán las diferentes tecnologías y modelos que se plantean para las CBDC. Finalmente, se explicará cómo afecta la aparición de las CBDC al futuro de las políticas monetarias de los Bancos Centrales y su impacto en el sistema financiero.

ABSTRACT: Money has always been present in our society. It's a tool that facilitates economic relationships. Throughout its history, it has taken on different forms, always linked to the technological development of the time. We are living in a stage where technological development has been intensified, especially in the digital field. This development has also reached the financial sector, where in recent years, a large number of central banks have published about their projects on digital currencies, commonly known as CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency), the focus of the present work. Initially, a review of the evolution of money will be made from its origin to the present day. Then, the different technologies and models that are proposed for CBDCs will be described. Finally, it will be explained how the emergence of CBDCs affects the future Central Banks monetary policies and its impact on the financial system.
