Familia, sociedad y trabajo: Santander 1752-1846

Abstract

RESUMEN: Se aborda un estudio de la sociedad santanderina entre 1752 y1846, un período de crecimiento intenso, utilizando técnicas de demografía histórica y de reconstrucción de familias. Se analizan variables que condicionan el incremento de la población: nupcialidad, edad de acceso al matrimonio, número de partos, espacios intergenésicos, etc. Además, se analizan las estructuras socieconómicas que alumbran los tres censos empleados como fuentes principales matizados por los libros parroquiales de bautismos, matrimonios y defunciones. Por último, se presta especial atención al papel de los movimientos migratorios que condicionan el aumento del número de habitantes y al papel de la mujer en su incorporación al mundo laboral. En resumen, un acercamiento a la sociedad santanderina entre 1752 y 1846 a través de las familias y del mundo del trabajo.

ABSTRACT: This thesis is a study of society in Santander between 1752 and 1846, a period of intense growth, using historical demography techniques and family reconstruction. The variables that determine the increase in population are analysed: nuptiality, age of access to marriage, number of births, period between births, etc. In addition, the socioeconomic structures that underpin the three censuses used as main sources are analysed and nuanced with data from parish books of baptisms, marriages and deaths. Finally, special attention is paid to the role of migratory movements that determine the increase in the number of inhabitants and the role of women as they enter the workforce. In short, this is a view of society in Santander between 1752 and 1846 through families and the world of work.
