Memoria de prácticas en el Museo de Arte Moderno y Contemporáneo de Santander y Cantabria (MAS)

Abstract

RESUMEN En este Trabajo Fin de Grado (TFG) muestro de manera escrita la realización de mis prácticas en el Museo de Arte Moderno y Contemporáneo de Santander y Cantabria (MAS). Es, por tanto, una manera de ver la labor que he desarrollado en dicha institución tomando parte en diversas tareas. No obstante, además de la explicación de lo realizado, incluye otra información sobre el propio trabajo o el museo, como es una breve historia de este o los objetivos que aspiro a conseguir con el TFG. Esos objetivos se refieren también y de manera especial a las competencias del Grado en Historia, centradas en la consecución de habilidades relacionadas con el análisis y gestión de la información o la comunicación, entre otras muchas. Como memoria de prácticas el trabajo se centra en la explicación de estas, para lo cual la información aparece organizada en distintos apartados siguiendo el propio proceso de trabajo del museo en la organización de exposiciones. De este modo, comienza por hablar de lo relativo a la colección permanente del MAS y la organización de la Casa-Museo Manuel Cacicedo. En relación a esos asuntos está la recepción de donaciones, el registro de obras y su documentación o la preparación de la información para comunicarse con el público. Más en detalle se explican los trabajos realizados en la organización de las exposiciones temporales de Carlos Aires y Fernando Sáez. En estas se recoge el proceso completo de preparación de este tipo de exposiciones a la vez que se explica mi implicación en ellas. En este caso se ve el desarrollo desde la selección de las obras que formarán parte de la exposición hasta su montaje en la sala, pasando por fases tan importantes como la gestión de los préstamos o el acondicionamiento del espacio expositivo. Y seguido a ello, la preparación de los elementos de comunicación con el público como la señalización o la elaboración del catálogo. Por último, incluyo una mención especial al trabajo con la ficha técnica de las exposiciones por su especial importancia en la actividad del museo y mi papel en la elaboración de un modelo para facilitar su uso.

ABSTRACT In this essay I show the work I had done as training in the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Santander and Cantabria (MAS). So, it is a good way to know my activity in this museum, where I took part in several matters during my internship. But, besides of the explanation of what I have done in the museum, this essay includes other information about that institution, as a short history of the evolution of the MAS, or the main goals that I want to reach with the realization of the training. Those goals are also referred to the competences associated to the History Degree, as reaching some skills related to analyze and manage the information or to communicate it, among others. As a training report, this essay focuses on the explanation of the practices, so the information is organized in several sections in the same order that the process for preparing an exhibition requires. So that, this essay starts explaining the MAS’ permanent collection and the organization of the Casa Museo Manuel Cacicedo. Regarding these matters are activities such as the reception oft of donations, the registration of the artworks and their researching the research on them or the production of public information. 4

The explanation of the arrangement of temporal exhibitions, like Carlos Aires’s or Fernando Sáez’s, is widely developed. Through their specific sections, they are shown in the making, pointing out my personal involvement in the process, from the selection of the artworks to their hanging. They are from the selection of the artworks to the setting up of them in the different rooms in the museum. It’s also shown about other important matters as the management of the lending and borrowing of artworks or the conditioning of the exhibition area. Then, I explain about the arrangement of different ways to give information about the exhibition to the visitors, like the brochure. Finally, I mention the importance of the technical datasheet, my steady work with this document and the importance that it has got for the museum work, as well as my contribution with the suggestion of an organized version of it.
