Análisis del rendimiento de las nuevas esclusas del Canal de Panamá

Abstract

RESUMEN: El presente Trabajo de Fin de Grado tiene como finalidad analizar el rendimiento de la ampliación del Canal de Panamá, las esclusas Cocolí y Agua Clara que permiten el paso de buques de mayor tamaño y capacidad por el Canal. Se recopilan los datos económicos de los últimos años desde su inauguración con el fin de observar y analizar si la evolución de la situación del Canal ha sido buena o no. También se detallan las tarifas que conlleva cruzar las nuevas esclusas para realizar así un caso práctico en tres tipos diferentes de barcos. Y de esta manera sopesar cuales son los gastos que debe asumir una naviera para que uno de sus buques transite por el canal. Con todo ello se pretende analizar el rendimiento de las nuevas esclusas del Canal de Panamá desde dos puntos de vista, el del propio Canal y el de los buques.

ABSTRACT: The purpose of the present End of Degree Project is to analyze the performance of the Panama Canal extension, particularly the Cocolí and Agua Clara locks, which allow the passage of larger size and capacity vessels. The economic data from the last years since its inauguration, is collected in order to observe and determine whether the evolution of the Canal has been positive or not. It also details the fees involved in crossing the new locks, provinding a case study of three ships with different characteristics. In this way, the costs that a shipping company must assume for one of its vessels to transit through the canal, can be weighed. With all this, the aim is to analyze the performance of the new locks of the Panama Canal from two points of view: that of the Canal itself and that of the ships.
