Cumplimiento del ODS 1 en África subsahariana

Abstract

RESUMEN: El primero de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible adoptados por la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) en 2015 con fecha esperada de cumplimiento para 2030, es el de poner fin a la pobreza en todas sus formas en todo el mundo. Este se hace especialmente importante en la región de África Subsahariana, dado que es la que presenta unas tasas de pobreza más elevadas en el planeta. A lo largo de este trabajo, se muestra, cual es el área que engloba la región de África Subsahariana, las subregiones en las que se divide y los países que las conforman. Se expone mediante un análisis del PIB y el PIB per cápita, la situación de crecimiento económico en la que éstos se encuentran. Y se facilita una recopilación de los valores del último año disponible de todos los indicadores del ODS 1 que proporciona las Naciones Unidas. Además, se realiza un análisis de cuáles son los motivos principales que están perjudicando o impidiendo la mejora de la pobreza en la región, centrándonos en tres de ellos principalmente: Los conflictos armados, que causan estragos en los países que los sufren, debilitando sus organismos e instituciones y empobreciendo terriblemente a la población. El impacto del cambio climático, como está afectando y como se espera que afecte este fenómeno y sus consecuencias en los próximos años. Y la crisis del COVID-19, cuáles han sido los impactos de esta en la economía de los países de la región y como se están tratando de paliar los daños causados por esta. Finalmente, se analiza la posibilidad del cumplimiento del ODS 1 para el 2030 dada la situación actual del mismo, desarrollando cual es la posibilidad de cumplimiento específica de cada uno de sus subobjetivos. Así mismo, se proponen medidas a adoptar por los gobiernos, instituciones y empresas para tratar de mejorar la situación actual de la región, teniendo en cuenta la cooperación internacional necesaria.

ABSTRACT: The first of the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the UN in 2015 with an expected completion date of 2030, is to end poverty in all its forms throughout the world. This is especially important in the Sub-Saharan Africa region, given that it is the one with the highest poverty rates on the planet. This work, it is shows, which is the area that includes the Sub-Saharan Africa region, the subregions in which it is divided and the countries that comprise them. It is exposed through an analysis of the GDP and especially of the GDP per capita, the situation of economic growth in which they find themselves. And a compilation of the values of the last available year of all the SDG 1 indicators provided by the United Nations is provided. In addition, an analysis is made of what are the main reasons that are harming or preventing the improvement of poverty in the region, focusing on three of them mainly: Armed conflicts, which wreak havoc in the countries that suffer from them, weakening their organizations and institutions and terribly impoverishing the population. The impact of climate change, how it is affecting and how it is expected to affect this phenomenon and its consequences in the coming years. And the COVID-19 crisis, what have been the impacts of this on the economy of the countries of the region and how are they trying to suffocate the damage caused by it. Finally, the possibility of fulfilling SDG 1 by 2030 is analysed given its current situation, developing the possibility of specific fulfilment of each of its sub-goals. Likewise, measures are proposed to be adopted by governments, institutions and companies to try to improve the current situation in the region, taking into account the necessary international cooperation.
