Cines y teatros históricos. Memoria de la cultura de masas en Santander (1900-1950). Proyecto de musealización.

Abstract

RESUMEN Desde finales del siglo XIX, la ciudad de Santander se convirtió en uno de los principales receptores del veraneo regio, actividad que llevó consigo toda una serie de establecimientos culturales que conseguirían extenderse más allá de la órbita de las élites. Durante todo el siglo XX cines y teatros surgirán en masa, siendo especialmente numerosos los primeros, pero en la actualidad apenas conservamos más que una vaga imagen de lo que realmente hubo. Santander ha borrado de su memoria los focos culturales que dieron vida a la ciudad y el objetivo de este trabajo es recuperar ese recuerdo. Al igual que se realizó con el incendio de 1941, se pretende llevar a cabo una ruta por distintos puntos de la ciudad en que se establezcan cartelas frente a los edificios en que se localizaron estos lugares y en las que pueda leerse una breve historia del local, fotos originales y un pequeño mapa que sitúe al interesado. Todo ello acompañado de los elementos de accesibilidad necesarios para facilitar el acceso a la información a todas las personas (códigos QR que enlacen con una web donde pueda editarse el tamaño del texto; audio descriptivo, perfiles en redes sociales, una app con el recorrido, etc.). Con esto podría devolverse el recuerdo de una ciudad que fue eminentemente cultural.

ABSTRACT Since the end of 19th century, the city of Santander became one of the main recipients of the royal summer break, an activity that brought a bunch of cultural establishments that would extend beyond the orbit of the elites. Throughout the 20th century cinemas and theaters will emerge en masse, the former being especially numerous, but today we barely preserve more than a vague image of what really existed. Santander has erased from its memory the cultural focus that gave life to the city and the objective of this essay is to recover that memory. As it was done with the 1941 fire, it is expected to carry out a route through different points of the city in which signs would be established in front of the buildings where these places were originally located and in which a brief history of the premises could be read, as well as original photos and a small map that places the interested party. With this, the memory of a city that was eminently cultural could be returned.
