In this work, we present a method for the analysis of biological tissues based on the use of equivalent liquid crystal textures. From a measured Mueller matrix of the tissue sample (in this case, a healthy porcine skin region), the Lu-Chipman polar decomposition is performed. Then, we focus on the study of tissue anisotropy. Considering a planar liquid crystal with the polymers organized in a way analogous to that of collagen fibers in tissue, the retardance component of the tissue can be assigned to an equivalent liquid crystal. From this matrix, a further study enables to extract more information about the biological tissue microstructural characteristics.es_ES
