Murallas tardoantiguas. Cambios en la configuración de las ciudades de Hispania entre los siglos IV y V d.c.

Abstract

RESUMEN; Con este trabajo se pretende estudiar el proceso de fortificación urbana en Hispania en época tardorromana y analizar los cambios topográficos provocados en ciudades como Lucus Augusti (Lugo), Asturica Augusta (Astorga), Caesaraugusta (Zaragoza) y Barcino (Barcelona). Se procederá mediante la recopilación de datos bibliográficos relativos a las causas y procedimientos que adoptan los reforzamientos defensivos de las fortificaciones tardoantiguas. Así, se tratará de estudiar las características técnicas de reconstrucción de las murallas y analizar los casos de transformación de los espacios urbanos en los siglos IV y V d.C. Por último, se pretende establecer un estado de la cuestión sobre los temas debatidos relacionados con la influencia militar en el desarrollo defensivo de ciudades del noroeste cercanas al acantonamiento de la Legio VII, en el actual León.

ABSTRACT: This work aims to study the urban fortification process in Hispania in late Roman times and analyze the topographic changes caused in cities such as Lucus Augusti (Lugo), Asturica Augusta (Astorga), Caesaraugusta (Zaragoza) and Barcino (Barcelona). It will proceed through the collection of bibliographic data related to the causes and procedures in the defensive reinforcements of late ancient fortifications. Thus, an attempt will be made to study the technical characteristics of the reconstruction of the walls and analyze the cases of transformation of urban spaces in the 4th and 5th centuries AD. Finally, it is intended to establish a state of the question on the debated issues related to the military influence in the defensive development of cities in the northwest near to the cantonment of Legio VII, in the current city of León.
