El ejército mongol y su éxito frente a los imperios sedentarios

Abstract

RESUMEN: Temüjin, del clan Borgijin, fue nombrado kan en 1206, siendo conocido en la historia por su sobrenombre “Gengis Kan”. A partir de ese momento, los mongoles iniciaron una expansión imparable que resultó en la conquista de los mayores imperios existentes en Asia. A la muerte de Gengis Kan en 1227, su imperio abarcaba desde Manchuria hasta las tierras de los rus y los montes Zagros, formando el imperio más extenso de la historia hasta ese momento. Por ello, el objetivo del trabajo es analizar el ejército que creó este imperio, centrándome en el reinado de Gengis Kan entre 1206 y 1227, para extraer cuales fueron los factores que permitieron su éxito militar.

ABSTRACT: Temüjin, of the Borgijin Clan, was named khan in 1206, being known in the history by his nickname “Genghis Khan”. From that moment, the mongols started an unnstoppable expansion which resulted in the conquest of the biggest empires existente in Asia. After the death of Genghis Khan in 1227, his empire covered from Manchuria to the lands of the Rus and the Zagros Mountains, founding the largest empire in the history until that moment. For this reason, the goal of this essay is to analize the army which created this empire, paying special attention to the reign of Genghis Khan from 1206 to 1227, to extract which were the factors that allowed his military success.
