La cámara oscura: estudio de su diseño y potencial como sistema óptico

Abstract

RESUMEN: La cámara oscura es un instrumento de visión que ha tenido gran relevancia en el desarrollo científico y en el mundo artístico. Aunque su auge se desarrolló entre los siglos XVII y XIX y a día de hoy su uso es anecdótico, su influencia a lo largo de la historia ha hecho de este instrumento protagonista de diversos estudios. En este trabajo se va estudiar el diseño de una cámara oscura como sistema óptico. Para ello, se ha llevado a cabo un breve anteproyecto que explica el razonamiento seguido para realizar dicho diseño y, posteriormente, mediante el software Zemax se ha optimizado el sistema. Además, se ha comparado el diseño propio realizado con el de la cámara oscura de Peña Cabarga. El objetivo principal del trabajo fue realizar un estudio del potencial de la cámara oscura como sistema óptico, tratando de introducir un aumento a la imagen original proporcionada por la cámara oscura. Para ello, se han propuesto dos modelos: uno tipo telefoto y otro tipo Cassegrain. En ambos casos se han realizado, en primer lugar, los cálculos pertinentes en régimen paraxial y, posteriormente, se ha optimizado el diseño mediante el software Zemax. De esta manera, ha sido posible comparar las ventajas e inconvenientes de ambos modelos. Finalmente, como prueba de concepto, se ha implementado un sistema de cámara oscura en un proyector de transparencias y se ha estudiado como introducir aumento mediante el modelo tipo telefoto.

ABSTRACT: The camera obscura is a vision instrument that has had great relevance in scientific development and in the artistic world. Although its heyday developed between the 17th and 19th centuries and today its use is anecdotal, its influence throughout history has made this instrument the subject of some studies. In this work it will be studied the design of a camera obscura as an optical system. For this, a brief draft which explains the reasoning followed to carry out the design has been realized. After that, using the Zemax software, the system has been optimized. In addition, the own design made has been compared with the Pe˜na Cabarga camera obscura. The main goal of the work was to perform a study of the potential of the camera obscura as an optical system, trying to introduce a magnification to the original image provided by the camera obscura. For this, two models have been proposed: one telephoto type and another Cassegrain type. In both cases, the pertinent calculations have been executed in the first place in the paraxial regime and, subsequently, the design has been optimized using the Zemax software. In this way, it has been possible to compare the advantages and disadvantages of both models. Finally, as proof of concept, a camera obscura system has been implemented in a transparency projector and it has been studied how to introduce magnification through the telephoto type model.
