Nuevos hallazgos de cerámicas romanas en la playa de La Magdalena (Santander)

Abstract

RESUMEN: En este trabajo presentamos 41 fragmentos ceramicos (terra sigillata, cerámica comun, tegulas y ladrillos) en su mayor parte de cronologia claramente romana. Las piezas fueron recuperadas recientemente en la playa de la Magdalena (Santander, Cantabria) cerca del establecimiento del Balneario. En dicho lugar, desde finales del siglo XIX, se tiene constancia de la existencia de un yacimiento romano, probablemente una villa, ocupado a partir del siglo I. Estos nuevos hallazgos confirman la importancia del yacimiento y su actividad hasta el siglo IV.

ABSTRACT: In this article we present 41 pottery fragments (terra sigillata, coarse pottery, tegulae and bricks) mostly dating to the Roman period. The pieces were recently recovered on the Magdalena beach (Santander, Cantabria), near the restaurant called El Balneario. There has been evidence of the existence of a Roman site here since the end of the 19th century (probably a villa that had been occupied since the 1st century). These new findings confirm the importance of the site and its activity until the 4th century.
