Estudio de la influencia de distintos tratamientos de radioterapia en pacientes mayores de 80 años operadas de cáncer de endometrio

Abstract

RESUMEN: En este proyecto, se estudia una muestra de datos de 449 pacientes de once hospitales diferentes de España, que han sufrido cáncer de endometrio y que han sido intervenidas quirúrgicamente, sometiendo a 282 de ellas a diferentes tratamientos de radioterapia: braquiterapia, radioterapia externa y/o ambos tratamientos a la vez. Los datos se han curado y agrupado en tres categorías diferentes, en función de sus características: datos de diagnóstico, datos de tratamiento y datos de post-tratamiento. Después, se ha realizado un análisis de supervivencia basado en curvas de Kaplan-Meier en función de diferentes va riables: índice de Charlson, fallecimiento por tumor, edad, grupo de riesgo, recidiva, cáncer específico y tratamiento, así como la supervivencia libre de enfermedad. Además, se ha estudiado la toxicidad sufrida por las pacientes sometidas a los distintos tratamientos de radioterapia, así como el tipo de toxicidad y los órganos afectados en función de las variables del tratamiento y, finalmente, realizando árboles de decisión para crear una guía para el profesional médico y random forest para analizar las variables que más influyen en la aparición de toxicidad.

ABSTRACT: In this project, a data sample of 449 patients from eleven different Spanish hospitals is analyzed. The se patients have suffered endometrial cancer and have undergone surgery, with 282 of them undergoing through different radiotherapy treatments: brachytherapy, external radiotherapy and/or both treatments at the same time. Data were curated and classified into three different categories according to their cha racteristics: diagnostic data, treatment data and post-treatment data. Subsequently, survival analysis was performed based on Kaplan-Meier curves according to different variables: Charlson index, death per tumour, age, risk group, recurrence, specific cancer and treatment, as well as disease-free survival. In addition, the toxicity suffered by patients who have recieved different radiotherapy treatments has been studied, as well as the type of toxicity and the organs affected according to the treatment variables and, finally, in order to create a guide for health professionals, decision trees have been created and random forest is used to analyse the variables that most influence the appearance of toxicity
