Beneficio económico y social de la hospitalización domiciliaria

Abstract

RESUMEN: La Hospitalización Domiciliaria (HD) es un recurso sanitario que actúa como alternativa del ingreso hospitalario o como herramienta de alta temprana. Esto permite la provisión de la atención clínica de rango hospitalario en el domicilio del paciente, en lugar de en el propio hospital. La presente monografía pretende comparar los costes y los resultados obtenidos en la hospitalización domiciliaria, en comparación a la hospitalización convencional (HC), así como analizar el cambio de paradigma y barreras a derribar en el futuro de la hospitalización domiciliaria. La HD evita al sistema sanitario los costes indirectos, ya que estos son trasladados a la persona. Además, permite tratar al paciente en su entorno, manteniendo su seguridad, e incrementando su satisfacción. De cara al futuro, se debe mirar a la hospitalización domiciliaria desde un punto de vista más amplio, ayudándose de los avances tecnológicos de la telemonitorización, y la experiencia desarrollada durante la pandemia por Sars-CoV-19.

ABSTRACT: Home Care Services (Hospital-Based) is a health resource that can be an alternative to conventional hospitalization or a means of early support. This allows the health care system to provide hospital quality clinical care at the patient’s home, instead of at the hospital. The focus of this monograph is to draw a comparison between in home care services and conventional hospitalization, looking at both costs and results, as well as to analyze the paradigm shift and the obstacles to be overcome in the future of home care services. HHC alleviates the health care system of indirect costs, since they are transferred to the patient. Furthermore, the patient is treated in the comfort of their own home, maintaining their safety, and increasing their level of satisfaction. Looking forward, home care services must be considered from a wider point of view, accounting for the technological advances of telemonitoring, and the experience acquired during the Sars-CoV-19 pandemic.
