Cuidados Paliativos Enfermeros Humanizados, en Pacientes Terminales y/o Crónicos

Abstract

RESUMEN : Se realiza una revisión bibliográfica, en relación con la actividad asistencial de los cuidados paliativos. En algunos países han evolucionado en concordancia a recursos disponibles, organización y accesibilidad a lo largo del tiempo. Existe evidencia clara de la longevidad de la población y debido a esto, existe un incremento de personas con enfermedades crónicas incurables y/o malignas. Se expone la evolución de los cuidados paliativos y la importancia de una asistencia más humanizada, que pretende aliviar y atender no solo síntomas físicos, sino cubrir las necesidades de enfermos de forma holística, teniendo una visión más extensa y centrándose en aspectos psicológicos, sociales y espirituales de la persona. Se han analizado métodos y herramientas que permitan identificar a los usuarios que precisan estos cuidados, además se exponen formas de actuación asistencial de enfermería en cuanto a cuidados al enfermo. El tratamiento de estos cuidados al no estar enfocados hacia un fin curativo se centra en proporcionar el mayor confort y comodidad en la persona y su familia. Se investiga cuáles son las mejoras para garantizar cuidados paliativos de forma más humana, además de las necesidades no cubiertas en algunos pacientes entrevistados, aportando información para mejorar en estos puntos.

ABSTRACT : A bibliographic review is made in relation to palliative care activity. In some countries, palliative care has evolved in accordance with available resources, organization, and accessibility over time. There is clear evidence of the longevity of the population and due to this, there is an increase of people with chronic incurable and/or malignant diseases. The evolution of palliative care and the importance of a more humanized assistance, which aims to alleviate and attend not only physical symptoms, but to cover the needs of patients in a holistic way, having a more extensive vision and focusing on psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of the person. Methods and tools have been analyzed to identify the users who need this care, and forms of nursing care action are also presented in terms of caring for the patient. The treatment of this care, since it is not focused on a curative purpose, is centered on providing the greatest comfort and convenience to the person and his or her family. The improvements to guarantee palliative care in a more humane way are investigated, as well as the unmet needs of some of the patients interviewed, providing information to improve on these points.
