Borja en época de Jaime I de Aragón según sus registros de cancillería (1252-1275)

Abstract

Los registros de cancillería, ya estudiados en un anterior número de esta revista, constituyen un instrumento de primera mano para reconstruir toda aquella documentación cuyos originales se han perdido. Para el reinado de Jaime I de Aragón (1213-1276) contamos con treinta y seis registros comprendidos entre 1252 y 1275, en su inmensa mayoría inéditos, que tratan sobre diversos aspectos de Borja a mediados del siglo XIII: la fiscalidad con las contribuciones ordinarias y extraordinarias que debían pagar los borjanos, los conflictos que el rey mantuvo con la nobleza y que implicaron a todos los lugares de la Corona, la administración interna ejercida por justicias y alfaquíes o incluso la noticia de algunas actividades de índole criminal.

The Chancellery registers, studied in a previous number of this Journal, constitute a firsthand instrument to reconstruct all the documentation of which the originals have been lost. For the reign of Jaime I of Aragon (1213-1276) we have thirty-six registers for the years between 1252 and 1275, of which most are unpublished. Their subject matter includes various aspects of Borja in the mid-13th century: taxation with the ordinary and extraordinary contribuciones that the people of Borja had to pay, conflicts between the king and the nobility extending to all places of the Crown, the internal administration of judges and Islamic clerics, and also news of some criminal activities.
