Evaluación Operativa, Funcional y Estructural del Puerto de Manta

Abstract

RESUMEN: El puerto de Manta, Ecuador, se encuentra ubicado en la costa del pacifico, en la ciudad de Manta. El puerto fue inaugurado el 6 de diciembre del año 1974, y está cerca de terminar su tiempo de vida útil. Desde su diseño han existido varias diferencias de criterio hasta el momento de ser construido, donde han participado compañías e ingenieros consultores. La importancia de evaluar esta infraestructura desde un punto de vista marítimo, nace de la escasez de estudios portuarios y costeros en el país que consideren este análisis fundamental. El puerto de Manta es uno de los más importantes a nivel nacional, principalmente para la provincia de Manabí. El estudio parte desde el análisis del clima marítimo en aguas profundas, posteriormente la propagación del oleaje desde aguas profundas hacia el área de estudio. Con la data obtenida, se evalúa el puerto de manera operativa tomando en cuenta el comportamiento de la agitación portuaria junto a los principales y futuros muelles a ser construidos, su funcionalidad considerando los rebases que podría tener la estructura sobre su dique de abrigo, y su parte estructural tomando en cuenta las dimensiones y pesos de sus elementos. Las metodologías utilizadas en estos análisis fueron complementadas con el uso de modelación numérica, e información recopilada en campo. El resultado general de este análisis fue que el puerto se encuentra funcional, operativo, y estable de manera estructural hasta el momento, pero si se consideran proyecciones futuras el puerto comienza a tener problemas con respecto a rebases sobre su dique de abrigo. Este tipo de análisis es importante que se pueda replicar en las demás infraestructuras portuarias y costeras del país, para garantizar su óptimo funcionamiento.

ABSTRACT: The port of Manta (Ecuador) is located on the Pacific coast, in the city of Manta. The port was inaugurated on December 6, 1974, and is close to the end of its useful life. Since its design there have been several differences of criteria until the moment of its construction, where companies and consulting engineers have participated. The importance of evaluating this infrastructure from a maritime point of view arises from the scarcity of port and coastal studies in the country that consider this fundamental analysis. The port of Manta is one of the most important nationally, mainly for the province of Manabí. The study starts from the analysis of the maritime climate in deep waters, then the propagation of the waves from deep waters to the study area. With the data obtained, the port is evaluated in an operational manner, taking into account the behavior of the port agitation along with the main and future docks to be built, its functionality considering the overflows that the structure could have on its shelter dock, and its structural part taking into account the dimensions and weights of its elements. The methodologies used in these analyzes were complemented with the use of numerical modeling and information collected in the field. The general result of this analysis was that the port is functional, operational, and structurally stable so far, but if future projections are considered, the port begins to have problems, with respect to overflows on its breakwater. This type of analysis is important that it can be replicated in the other port and coastal infrastructures of the country, to guarantee its optimal functioning.
