Metodologías cualitativas participativas en educación: Photovoice, viñetas y Ketso

Abstract

Resumen: La investigación cualitativa introdujo la necesidad de desarrollar, por parte del investigador, un papel reflexivo sobre el proceso investigativo, es por ello que asumir los principios de reconocimiento, participación e identidad en la investigación requiere imaginar nuevos métodos y estrategias. En este artículo se examina detalladamente tres estrategias metodológicas de carácter participativo desplegadas en investigaciones previas, con la participación de estudiantes de pedagogía, niños y niñas: Photovoice, viñetas y Ketso, para explorar exhaustivamente sus ventajas, dilemas y dificultades encontradas en su utilización, así como el impacto de las interacciones con los participantes. El carácter novedoso de estas estrategias las hace parecer inherentemente beneficiosas, por esta razón se necesita un análisis reflexivo y crítico para reconocer sus desventajas y límites, así como las razones para utilizarlas. Se concluye que las estrategias analizadas permiten abrir nuevos espacios y tiempos para representar la voz de todos los participantes, y que su capacidad para incrementar el protagonismo de los participantes y generar un modelo más horizontal de investigación es lo que otorga legitimidad a la investigación, siempre que estén enfocadas en servir a los intereses de los participantes y tener un fin transformativo.

Abstract: Qualitative research introduced the need for the researcher to develop a reflective role on the research process, which is the reason why assuming the principles of recognition, participation and identity in research requires imagining new methods and strategies. This article examines in detail three participatory methodological strategies deployed in previous research with the participation of student teachers and children: Photovoice, vignettes and Ketso, to explore in detail their advantages, dilemmas and difficulties involved in their use, as well as the impact of the interactions with the participants. The novel nature of these strategies makes them seem inherently beneficial, for this reason it is necessary a reflective and critical analysis to recognize their disadvantages and limits, as well as the reasons for using them. Authors concluded that these strategies open new spaces and opportunities to represent the voice of all participants, and that their capacity to increase the protagonism of the participants and generate a more horizontal model of research is what gives legitimacy to the research, as long as they are focused on serving the interests of the participants and have a transformative purpose.
