SARS-Cov2 y su interacción con el receptor ACE-2 como base para el desarrollo de nuevos fármacos

Abstract

RESUMEN : El objetivo de este trabajo es llevar a cabo una revisión bibliográfica acerca de las alternativas terapeúticas centradas en la enzima convertidora de la angiotensina (ACE2, su acrónimo en inglés) como posible diana de fármacos que ayuden a paliar las infecciones producidas por el coronavirus SARS-CoV.2 El papel de esta enzima ha sido un tema de debate en los últimos tiempos. En relación a ella, hay que recordar que al inicio de la pandemia se debatió acerca de la suspensión o no del tratamiento con antihipertensivos como IECAS y ARA-2 por los motivos que explicaremos en este trabajo, posteriormente nuevos estudios, también tratados en este trabajo, demuestran el potencial de esta enzima como tratamiento frente a la infección por SARS-CoV-2. También hablaremos del significado del aumento de los niveles de la misma en pacientes que están cursando la infección y su significado en el progreso de la misma.

ABSTRACT : The objective of this work is to review the ACE-2 receptor as a possible therapeutic target against SARS-CoV-2. In this work a bibliographic review on the knowledge about this enzyme and its relationship with infection by SARS-CoV-2 will be discussed. It is worth noting that at the beginning of the pandemic outbreak there was a debate about the suspension or not of treatment with antihypertensive drugs such as ACEI and ARA-2 for the reasons that we will be explained in this work. Recent studies, also discussed in this work, have shown the potential of this enzyme as a treatment against SARS-CoV-2 infection. The increase in ACE-2 levels in patients who are undergoing the infection and its significance in the progress of the disease will also be discussed.
