COVID : impacto del COVID en la demanda de los servicios de urgencias del HUMV durante los meses de la 1ª ola (Marzo-Abril) y la 2ª ola (Octubre-Noviembre)

Abstract

RESUMEN : ANTECEDENTES: La pandemia de COVID ha afectado los servicios hospitalarios y la atención al paciente, repercutiendo en las urgencias e ingresos. MÉTODOS: Se realizó un estudio observacional de corte transversal en 91.637 pacientes. Se analizó la asistencia del Servicio de Emergencias del HUMV durante las dos oleadas. RESULTADOS: Los resultados obtenidos reflejan una disminución en el número de pacientes que acudieron a urgencias en ambas olas. También se redujeron los ingresos en la primera ola, a diferencia de la segunda. El Servicio de Urgencias Pediátricas fue el que sufrió mayor impacto mientras que las Urgencias Obstétricas se vieron menos afectadas. Durante la primera, la asistencia se redujo en la mayoría de los grupos. En la segunda, la reducción de la asistencia comenzó a normalizarse. Los ingresos también se redujeron en muchos grupos. Las mayores caídas corresponden a patología respiratoria y digestiva. Destacan los ingresos por enfermedad renal, que se redujeron en la primera ola y aumentaron en la segunda. Las visitas por alteraciones del comportamiento aumentaron significativamente en ambas olas. DISCUSIÓN Y CONCLUSIÓN: Al igual que en otras publicaciones se muestra una reducción de las visitas las urgencias. En conclusión, durante la pandemia se ha producido cambios en los patrones de patología por los pacientes acudían a los Servicios de Urgencias. El número de ingresos varió de una ola a otra al igual que su motivo.

ABSTRACT : BACKGROUND: The COVID pandemic has affected hospital services and patient care, having repercussion in the hospital emergencies and admissions. METHODS: An observational cross-sectional study was carried out in 91,637 patients. The attendance of the Emergency Service of the HUMV was observed during the first and second waves. RESULTS: The results obtained reflects a decrease in the number of patients who came to the emergency room in both waves. There is also a reduction of admissions in the first wave, unlike to the second. The Pediatric Emergency Service was the one that suffered the greatest impact while Obstetric Emergencies were less affected. During the first wave, attendance was reduced in most groups. In the second wave attendance reduction began to normalize. Admissions were also reduced in many groups. The most striking groups correspond to respiratory and digestive pathology. It is notable that admissions for kidney disease, which were reduced in the first wave, increased in the second one. Visits from behavioural disturbances grew significantly in both waves. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: As other publications a reduction in visits during the pandemic waves were produced. In conclusion, pandemic has produced changes in the patterns of pathologies for which patients attended the Emergency Services. The number of admissions from one wave to another variated as the reason for admission.
