Puertos, construcción naval y actividades marítimas en la Hermandad de las Marismas (1296-1494)

Abstract

RESUMEN: En el presente trabajo de Fin de Grado se busca desarrollar y tratar aquellas cuestiones que comprenden a la organización conocida como la Hermandad de las Marismas. Dicha agrupación se consagró en la Baja Edad Media como una fuerza a tener en cuenta en el norte de la Península Ibérica, comprendiendo las Cuatro Villas de la Mar (actual Cantabria) y algunas villas del territorio vasco en busca de mejorar su situación económica. Esta Hermandad logró incluso pactar con reyes extranjeros en busca de sus beneficios. De esta forma, la narración de este trabajo está enfocado a tratar las infraestructuras, los navíos o las propias actividades en el marco cronológico comprendido entre 1296-1494, momento en el cual se crea el Consulado de Burgos por los Reyes Católicos, desapareciendo la Hermandad de las Marismas.

ABSTRACT: This work seeks to develop and address those issues that comprise the organization known as the Brotherhood of the Marshes. This group was consecrated in the Late Middle Ages as a force to be taken into account in the north of the Iberian Peninsula, including the Four Villas of the Sea (now Cantabria) and some villas in the Basque territory in search of improving their economic situation. This Brotherhood even managed to bargain with foreign kings in search of its benefits. In this way, the narrative of this work is focused on treating the infrastructures, the ships or the own activities in the chronological frame comprised between 1296-1494, at which time the Consulate of Burgos was created by the Catholic Monarchs, disappearing the Brotherhood of Marshes.
