El impacto del Brexit en la banca

Abstract

RESUMEN: El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar el impacto que ha tenido el Brexit sobre la City de Londres, pero principalmente sobre la banca de Reino Unido, mediante dos tipos de análisis diferentes. En este trabajo se comienza poniendo en contexto cómo fue la relación de Reino Unido con la Unión Europea antes del Brexit y qué hizo que se llegara a tomar la decisión que lo cambiaría todo para ambos, pero especialmente para UK. Además, primero veremos una pequeña compilación de otros estudios de otras personas de forma resumida que analizan unas variables diferentes a las nuestras con otros enfoques distintos para ver qué conclusiones han sacado y tener así más información sobre el tema para conocer de qué otras formas el Brexit ha afectado a los servicios financieros y a la City de Londres. El primer análisis es un análisis descriptivo, que comienza con la descripción de las variables que se van a utilizar a lo largo del trabajo, estudiando la evolución de dichas variables en dos periodos de tiempo distintos mediante gráficos y la evolución de los estadísticos descriptivos. Un periodo anterior que abarca de 2010 a 2015 y un periodo posterior que abarca de 2016 a 2019. Así se podrá ver si se produce un cambio de tendencia de las variables en el momento que se produce el Brexit. El segundo análisis es un análisis de regresión realizado mediante Excel para comprobar si el cambio en la evolución de las variables de estudio está relacionado con el hecho de que se haya producido el Brexit y hondamos un poco más viendo si también se han visto afectados los bancos cuyas sedes se encuentran en las localizaciones que votaron a favor de la salida de UK de la UE. El trabajo finaliza con una conclusión que explica los resultados obtenidos tanto en la revisión literaria, como en el análisis descriptivo y en el análisis de regresión. Y también abre posibles nuevas líneas de investigación.

ABSTRACT: The aim of this study is to analyze the impact that Brexit has had on the City of London but mainly on the banking sector of the United Kingdom using two different types of analysis. This work begins by putting into context how the relationship between the United Kingdom and the European Union was before Brexit, its development and what encourage the UK to make the decision of leaving the UE that change everything, especially for the UK. In addition, we will first look at a small compilation of other people's studies summarized that analyze some different variables to ours with other different approaches to see what conclusions they have drawn and thus have more information on the subject to see in what other ways Brexit has affected financial services and the City of London. The first analysis is a descriptive analysis, which begins with the description of the variables to be used throughout the work, studying the evolution of these variables in two different time periods through graphs and the evolution of descriptive statistics. An earlier period covering 2010 to 2015 and a subsequent period covering 2016 to 2019. This way we will be able to see if there is a change of trend of the variables at the time that Brexit occurs. The second analysis is a regression analysis carried out using Excel to check if the change in the evolution of the study variables is related to the fact that Brexit has occurred, and we go a little deeper seeing if the banks whose headquarters are in the locations that voted in favor of the UK's exit from the EU have also been affected. The work ends with a conclusion that explains the results obtained both in the literary review, as in the descriptive analysis and regression analysis. And it also opens possible new lines of research.
