La Vijanera de Silió

Abstract

RESUMEN: Este trabajo académico se propone analizar la Vijanera, fiesta de profundas raíces, celebrada actualmente el primer domingo de cada año en la localidad de Silió, en Cantabria. Siendo uno de los pocos carnavales que ha pervivido en la región, es considerada una Fiesta de Interés Turístico Nacional desde 2009 y en los últimos años ha sido considerada para su declaración como Bien de Interés Cultural. Por ello, y debido al momento actual de valoración y reivindicación de esta como patrimonio inmaterial, las siguientes páginas pretenden estudiar dicha fiesta, desglosando los elementos que la conforman, no sin antes examinar su tipología e historia. Por último, se extraerán una serie de conclusiones de los aspectos anteriormente comentados.

ABSTRACT: This academic work will analyze “La Vijanera”. This event is celebrated the first Sunday of every year in the village called Silió, in Cantabria. Nowadays, this typical event of cantabrian culture has reached an important popularity, being one of the few carnivals that has still survived in the region. “La Vijanera” is considered as a Festival of National Tourist since 2009 and, in the recent years, considered as an Asset of Cultural interest too. Therefore, due to the current moment of valuation and its claim as intangible cultural heritage, we are going to study this event from a closer view, analyzing its history, and its all instrinsic characteristics. Finally, a series of conclusions will be drawn from the previously mentioned aspects.
