Estudio para llevar a cabo los procedimientos del convenio internacional para el control y la gestión del agua de lastre aplicado al buque

Abstract

RESUMEN: El presente TFM tiene por objetivo principal explicar los procedimientos requeridos por el buque “OPDR Andalucía’’, perteneciente a la Naviera Bernhard Schulte, para llevar a cabo el Convenio Internacional para el Control y la Gestión del Agua de Lastre y los Sedimentos de los Buques (BWM Convention), cuya finalidad es frenar la contaminación del medio marino debido a la transferencia de organismos acuáticos, mediante la incorporación de nuevos procedimientos operacionales y tecnológicos. Con la entrada en vigor de dicho Convenio el 8 de septiembre de 2017, y su reciente homologación puesta en marcha el 28 de octubre de 2020, la compañía se ve obligada a llevar a cabo una serie de medidas que permitan su implantación; además, ha de actualizar su flota para continuar manteniendo su competitividad, basándose en los nuevos reglamentos y normativas para seguir explotando el buque. Asimismo, se describirán los procedimientos empleados por el departamento técnico de la naviera para la instalación de un sistema de tratamiento de agua de lastre mediante el desarrollo de las nuevas tecnologías.

ABSTRACT: The main objective of this TFM is to explain the procedures required by the ship “OPDR Andalucía”, belonging to the Bernhard Schulte Shipping Company, to carry out the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ballast Water and Sediments of Ships (BWM Convention), whose purpose is to stop the pollution of the marine environment due to the transfer of aquatic organisms, through the incorporation of new operational and technological procedures. With the entry into force of said Convention on September 8th, 2017 and its recent approval launched on October 28th, 2020, the company is forced to carry out a series of measures that allow its implementation; in addition, it has to update its fleet to continue maintaining its competitiveness, based on the new regulations and standards to continue operating the ship. Likewise, the procedures used by shipping company’s technical department for the installation of a ballast water treatment system through the development of the new technologies will be described.
