Papel del profesional de enfermería neonatal en el desarrollo y gestión de calidad del vínculo afectivo madre/hijo

Abstract

RESUMEN: Los seres humanos, tras el nacimiento, buscan de manera instintiva crear un vínculo emocional fuerte y seguro con su figura de apego. De esta forma consiguen una sensación de seguridad y protección además de unos cuidados. Por parte de las figuras de apego, normalmente los padres, se requiere que sepan identificar las necesidades de su hijo en cada momento y cómo satisfacerlas. Existen conductas que facilitan el desarrollo del vínculo como pueden ser el contacto piel con piel, la lactancia materna o el método canguro, entre otras. La forma en la que se instauran en el día a día de un lactante y su familia condiciona el desarrollo de dicha unión. Cuando el lactante o la madre se encuentran hospitalizados su desarrollo puede verse comprometido haciendo más complicado su mantenimiento. La enfermería actúa como intermediaria para fomentar las estructuras de apego, tanto en condiciones de salud como de enfermedad. Para el correcto desarrollo y mantenimiento del vínculo se cuenta con bases de conocimientos, técnicas y conductas que proporcionan los profesionales enfermeros. El desarrollo del vínculo se ha visto afectado por la situación sanitaria actual en relación con el virus SARS-COV-2. Ha sido necesario llevar a cabo medidas de contingencia para proteger a los niños, familias y profesionales sanitarios, las cuales han puesto en riesgo el correcto desarrollo de las conductas promovedoras del vínculo.

ABSTRACT: Instinctively after birth humans seek to create a strong and safe bond with their attachment figure so they can feel protected, safe, and taken care of. As for this attachment figure, normally the parents, it needs to be able to identify the baby’s needs as well as know how to satisfy them. This is defined as attachment. Skin-to-skin contact (SSC), breastfeeding and the kangaroo method are referred as some of the practices that lead to the development of this bond. How the union develops is determined by the way these behaviors are incorporated into the everyday life of the baby and its parents. When, either the baby or the mother, is admitted to hospital the development of these practices can be at risk and so can their bond. The role of nursing is to acts as an intermediate to promote these bonding practices, so much in healthy situations as in situations when hospitalization is required. Nurses must educate the families with knowledge, techniques, and behaviors for them to develop a healthy and strong bond with their child. The current health situation due to the SARS-COV-2 has put at risk the development of this bond. In order to protect the newborns, their families, and the healthcare professionals a contingency plan had been developed. The measures involved negatively affected the development of the bonding practices.
