El genocidio de Ruanda: un conflicto contemporáneo de oscuras raíces

Abstract

RESUMEN: El presente trabajo académico trata el genocidio ocurrido en Ruanda en 1994, entre los meses de abril y julio. Con el propósito de contextualizar los hechos, se estudiarán tanto los antecedentes más remotos como aquellos más próximos a este suceso. Posteriormente analizaremos en profundidad la perpetración del genocidio; su desarrollo, sus víctimas, sus participantes y los debates historiográficos surgidos al respecto, así como el papel desempeñado por la comunidad internacional. Finalmente, se tratarán algunas de las numerosas consecuencias de este episodio.

ABSTRACT: The present academic work deals with the genocide occurred in Rwanda in 1994 between the months of April and July. With the aim of contextualize the events, both, the most remote antecedents and those closer to this event will be studied. Later, we will deeply analyse the perpetration of the genocide; its development, its victims, its participants and the historiographic debates that have arisen in this regard, as well as the role played by international community. Finally, some of the numerous consequences of this incident will be discussed.
