Guerra y mar en la Baja Edad Media. Estudio de la Guerra de los Cien Años a través de sus batallas navales

Abstract

RESUMEN: El objetivo primordial del presente trabajo es dar a conocer la importancia que tuvo el mar en la Guerra de los Cien Años. Trataremos de analizar las batallas navales más relevantes del enfrentamiento entre Inglaterra y Francia así como sus efectos en el devenir del conflicto. Además detallaremos las diferentes características de los navíos y armas empleadas, la aparición de la pólvora y su uso en los cañones, la formación de los ejércitos y flotas navales, los personajes más destacados y las tácticas que se desarrollaron durante los enfrentamientos. En conclusión, intentaremos realizar un estudio de la Guerra de los Cien Años prestando especial atención a las batallas navales del periodo que abarca los siglos XIV y XV.

ABSTRACT: The main objective of this work is to known the importance of the sea in the Hundred Years War. We will try to analyze the most relevant naval battles of the confrontation between England and France, as well as, their effects on the future of the conflict. Also the different characteristics of the ships and weapons used, the appearance of gunpowder and its use in cannons, the formation of armies and naval fletes, the most prominent characters and the tactics that were developed during the confrontations, will be detailed. In conclusion, we will try to carry out a study of the Hundred Years’ War paying special attention to the naval battles of the period spanning the 14th and 15th centuries.
