La objeción de conciencia a la eutanasia

Abstract

RESUMEN: En los últimos tiempos, la objeción de conciencia y la eutanasia han sido temas frecuentes en los medios de comunicación, sin embargo, sus orígenes se remon-tan cientos de años atrás. Normalmente, el ser humano ha buscado eludir a la muerte, pero en ciertos casos, esta se busca. Ante la reciente regulación de la eutanasia han surgido viejos conflictos morales con las obligaciones legales. La imposibilidad, en cualquier estado, de incorporar libertades absolutas a su orde-namiento ha hecho que los Estados se hayan visto obligados a entrar a regular la objeción de conciencia para buscar el equilibrio entre la libertad del enfermo y la de los sanitarios Así, una vez más en la historia, los Estados vuelven a ser los árbitros en la lucha entre libertades.

ABSTRACT: In recent times, conscientious objection and euthanasia have become frecuent topics in the media, however, their origins date back hundreds of years. Normally, human beings have tried to avoid death in every possible way but, in certain ca-ses, it is soght. With the recent regulation of euthanasia, some old moral conflicts with legal obligations have appeared. The impossibility, in any state, of incorpo-rating absolute freedoms into its legal system has meant that states have been forced to regulate conscientious objection in order to find a balance between the freedom of the patient and the freedom of the health care providers. In this way, once again in history, states are the referee in the battle between freedoms.
