Evolución de los cuidados al final de la vida en pacientes con COVID 19

Abstract

RESUMEN: Durante los meses más duros de la pandemia provocada por el Sars-CoV2, los cuidados al final de la vida han provocado numerosos dilemas éticos de gran trascendencia. Todos los medios de comunicación hacían eco de como los pacientes morían solos y sin recibir atención médica. Con el paso del tiempo, la situación y los problemas éticos fueron variando mientras evolucionaba la situación frente al virus. Por ello, la finalidad del presente trabajo es reflexionar sobre la ética de los cuidados al final de la vida que se dio durante los meses más duros de la pandemia provocada por el COVID-19 en 2020. Además, se compara con la situación actual y se describe como se encuentran los pilares de la muerte digna en los pacientes COVID-19. Otro de los aspectos de gran importancia que aquí se recoge es la regulación actual de la muerte digna. Además, se pone énfasis en el trabajo realizado por las enfermeras cuando los pacientes COVID-19 se encontraban en las peores condiciones, así como en los cuidados que han recibido tanto ellos como sus familias.

ABSTRACT: During the hardest months of the Sars-CoV2 pandemic, end-of-life care has led to many ethical dilemmas of great significance. All the media echoed how patients died alone and without medical attention. With the passage of time, the situation and ethical problems changed as the situation with the virus evolved. Therefore, the purpose of this work is to reflect on the ethics of end-of-life care that occurred during the hardest months of the pandemic caused by COVID19 in 2020. It is compared with the current situation and is currently described as are the pillars of dignified death in COVID-19 patients. Another aspect of great importance that is included here is the current regulation of dignified death. In addition, emphasis is placed on the work carried out by nurses when patients were in the worst conditions, as well as on the care that they and their families have received.
