RESUMEN:
El cambio climático es una realidad innegable, motivo por el cual cada vez son más los
países que están trabajando en el desarrollo de políticas y estrategias que ayudan a
combatir de manera conjunta este grave problema. Una de las causas directamente
relacionadas con esta situación es el aumento exponencial que está sufriendo el
consumo de energía a nivel mundial. Cada día que pasa consumimos más energía, somos
completamente dependientes de este elemento y así ha sido demostrado con la llegada
de la pandemia provocada por la COVID – 19.
El sector sanitario es el tercer sector que más energía consume en la distribución por
sectores. Son servicios que funcionan ininterrumpidamente y, por lo tanto, son grandes
demandantes de energía.
En el presente trabajo se pondrá de manifiesto la necesidad de invertir en la mejora del
rendimiento energético de los edificios que conforman este sector tan importante, el
cual tiene un gran margen de mejora, y que puede resultar en importantes beneficios a
nivel energético, económico y sanitario.
Algunas de estas mejoras se verán de forma descriptiva, analizando las ventajas e
inconvenientes de cada una. De igual manera, se tratará una aproximación a un caso
práctico simulado con un software especializado en certificaciones energéticas, que
reflejará la complejidad que conlleva el manejo de datos de una magnitud como esta.
Se verá la evolución funcional que ha sufrido la tipología hospitalaria y se comprobará
que la eficiencia energética lleva jugando un importante papel desde hace siglos.
Asimismo, se podrá comprobar cómo muchos de los conceptos adquiridos en aquellos
años siguen estando presentes hoy en día, como es el caso de la flexibilidad del edificio.
Flexibilidad que se demostró primordial en la gestión hospitalaria de la pandemia.
Finalmente, se abordarán algunos datos de la incidencia del coronavirus tanto a nivel
energético como sanitario y se establecerán unas posibles futuras líneas de
investigación que a este tema respectan.
ABSTRACT:
Climate change is an undeniable reality, this is the reason the number of countries are
working on developing policies and strategies that help to jointly fight this severe
problem is increasing. One of the causes that is directly related to this situation is the
exponential increase in energy consumption. Each day, we consume more energy, we
are completely dependent on this element and this has been shown with the arrival of
the pandemic caused by COVID – 19.
The health sector ranks third amongst the most energy-consuming sectors. They are
services that operate without interruption and, therefore, they are highly energy
demanding.
In the present work, the need to invest in improving the energy performance in the
buildings within this very important sector will be highlighted, which has a great margin
for improvement, and which can result in significant benefits at the energy, economic
and health.
Some of these improvements will be seen in a descriptive way, analyzing the advantages
and disadvantages of each one. In the same way, an approach to a simulated practical
case using a specialized software in energy certifications will be treated, which will
reflect the complexity involved in handling data of a magnitude like this.
The functional evolution that the hospital typology has undergone will be seen and it
will be verified that energy efficiency has played an important role for centuries.
In addition, it will be possible to see how many of the concepts acquired in those years
are still present today, such as the flexibility of the building. Flexibility that proved
essential in the hospital management of the pandemic.
Finally, some data on the incidence of the coronavirus will be addressed both at the
energy and health level and possible future lines of research will be established
regarding this issue.
