Turismo y clima en Cantabria

Abstract

RESUMEN: El clima es un factor determinante del turismo que incide ineludiblemente en la percepción del visitante, la empresa que presta el servicio, y la imagen del destino. Esta fuerza de la naturaleza es un componente imposible de ser ignorado, y aún menos controlado por la acción directa. Dadas las características climáticas de la región de Cantabria, resulta necesario comprender la mecánica que rodea a los fenómenos atmosféricos con el fin de alcanzar una adaptación superior al medio, optimizando los periodos de estacionalidad y aspirando a un nivel superior de sostenibilidad. En este trabajo se analizarán datos procedentes de diversos organismos de estadística, expertos en meteorología, bibliografía relevante, e información obtenida a partir del trabajo de campo; con el fin de establecer una relación entre el turismo y el clima en Cantabria. Finalmente se expondrán una serie de conclusiones al respecto.

ABSTRACT: Weather is an essential element within tourism in that it produces a direct influence on the visitor’s perception, the company which provides the service, as well as the destination’s image. This natural force is a key aspect to be reckoned with; impossible to be ignored, or directly controlled. Given Cantabria’s climatic features, it is necessary to understand the mechanics surrounding atmospheric phenomena, with the main aim of achieving a better approach to environmental adaptation, optimising periods suffering seasonality and aspiring towards a higher level of sustainability. In this dissertation, data from different sources will be analysed, including statistics, meteorological experts, relevant bibliography, and fieldwork data. This study will be carried out with the main aim of establishing and exploring the link between tourism and climate in Cantabria. Finally, a series of conclusions emanating from this research will be presented.
